Organized by the Working Group Biocircular within the framework of the AF4F project, the session brought together researchers and practitioners to exchange experiences and discuss practical approaches.

The first presentation, delivered by Metaxia Kokkini (AUA), introduced the VALERECO project, which focuses on agroecological strategies for weed management in cropping systems based on legumes, emphasizing the role of legumes in enhancing soil fertility, biodiversity, and natural weed suppression while reducing dependence on chemical inputs.

Following this, Giannis Gazoulis (AUA) discussed  Agroecology as a key component in the transition to sustainable agriculture in a changing world, underlining how agroecological zoning can help tailor agricultural practices to local environmental and socio-economic conditions, promoting long-term sustainability and resilience.

The session concluded with a round discussion on agroecological zoning Implementation, where participants exchanged perspectives on challenges, policy needs, and opportunities for integrating agroecological zoning into regional and national agricultural frameworks.
